What am I?
Who am I?
In my memory, vague figures blur and pass each other across streets, lifetimes, and dreams.
Some start to take more clear shapes, their dreams and realities merging into one.
I’m taken to the beach, where three women are conversing and taking shape more clearly. They are fuzzy, but somehow prominent.
Are these my friends? Have we known each other for a long time?
“Let’s go,” one of them says in a cold voice.
Is this how I really remember them?
Maybe they were wearing hats. And a sundress.
We are walking somewhere, but a pull on my heart holds me back. A nagging feeling. A feeling with no voice.
Something draws me back from the promise of fresh, warm sand and soothing waves.
And like a dream, these people (my friends?) are gone and all returns to empty white.
Author’s note
Thanks for joining the journey so far, with all the explorations into art and thinking about how to start the visual novel I’ve always wanted to write, Moon Child. I still haven’t settled on a consistent art style or written voice, but I figured maybe the way to decide it is to just start something, and things can always change later.
Best not to let perfection prevent us from pursuing the story we want to tell.
Anything related to the actual story will be tagged “Moon Child” (you can see it at the top in the Navigation Bar), and other sketches or explorations will have different tags like “journaling.”
I always appreciate constructive feedback and thoughts :)
Thanks again for all of your support, and see you in the next page!
Once again just beautiful!!!
Haunting and beautiful 🩷
